Though the allusion to minimalism would appear inevitable, Pérez works in fact exude an unusual warmth - in stark contrast to the autonomous minimalistic form: they are cultural shapes based on other cultural shapes on the everyday landscape. A specific materiality and hand-crafted texture is emphasized and indicates a sense of imperfection - in itself unusual for the representation of geometrical figures - and marks an important characteristic his work. Each presentation is an opportunity to reactivate the work in a formalization that is both specific and provisional. By means of a process of edition, the parts are reordered in relation to each other as well as the context in which they are shown.
